Our Story. Written together.

Every great journey begins with a dream. Ours was born in 1976, on the island of Kos, when Konstantinos Mitsis envisioned that true hospitality is created through human connection, mutual respect, and shared experience.

50 years later, his vision lives on through his family and over 5,500 dedicated colleagues. Together, we continue to welcome the world to Greece with care, warmth and a true sense of belonging.

“We don’t just see clients; we see people seeking care and relaxation. This belief guides everything we do.”

1976–1999 - Laying the foundations of a Greek Hospitality Group

Mitsis was founded in 1976 by Konstantinos Mitsis, whose pioneering spirit and long-term vision shaped the foundations of a hospitality group built on quality, strategic investment and authentic Greek philoxenia. What began with Ramira Beach in Kos was more than a new hotel. It was the entry point of a philosophy centered on trust, guest experience and operational excellence.

With Norida Beach in 1982 and a dynamic expansion throughout the 1990s — including Rinela, Grand Hotel, Serita Beach, Rodos Maris, Summer Palace, Family Village and Rodos Village — the Group established a strong presence in Kos, Rhodes and Crete. Growth was pursued with discipline and ambition, always guided by the values instilled by its founder. Beyond physical development, Mitsis built lasting relationships, a trusted reputation and a resilient business model, a legacy driven by vision, consistency and a deep commitment to Greek hospitality.

2000–2010 - Elevating the all-inclusive experience

The new millennium marked a shift from regional growth to strategic diversification. Mitsis expanded into new destinations and hospitality segments, strengthening its position within the Greek tourism market. La Vita opened in 2000, followed by Galini in Kamena Vourla and Lindos Memories in Rhodes. Roda Beach in Corfu and Grand Serai in Ioannina extended our presence to the Ionian Sea and mainland Greece, while Faliraki Beach further enhanced our portfolio in Rhodes.

The addition of Sofitel at Athens International Airport reflected our ability to operate in key infrastructure hubs and collaborate at an international level. During this decade, Mitsis evolved into a multi-destination hospitality group with growing operational expertise, balancing ownership, leases and strategic partnerships. Growth was measured, intentional and aligned with long-term value creation.

2010–2020 - Transformation at scale

Between 2010 and 2020, Mitsis focused on strengthening its position in the five-star resort segment. Blue Domes in Kos, Laguna in Crete and Alila in Rhodes became flagship properties, representing a new generation of premium all-inclusive experiences in Greece. In 2016, the Group launched a €140 million renovation and repositioning program across key hotels. This large-scale investment reflected our commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability, architectural enhancement and the modernization of guest experiences.

Rather than pursuing expansion alone, we invested deeply in quality, infrastructure and brand equity. The acquisition of the Grand Hotel in Rhodes in 2018 reinforced our strategic presence in high-value destinations. In 2019, the establishment of Mitsis Filoxenia formalized our management structure, enhancing governance, operational standards and scalability for future growth. This decade defined Mitsis as a resilient and forward-thinking hospitality group, capable of adapting to a rapidly changing global tourism landscape.

2020–2025 - Strategic Expansion & New Horizons

Between 2020 and 2025, Mitsis Group entered a decisive phase of accelerated growth, reinforcing its position among Greece’s leading hospitality groups. With a clear strategic direction, the Group diversified its portfolio, strengthened its presence in key tourism regions and introduced concepts aligned with evolving traveler expectations. In 2021, the Group introduced its Corporate Social Responsibility programme 'A Story of Change', formalizing its ESG framework and reinforcing its long-term commitment to environmental stewardship, social contribution and responsible governance. In 2022, the non-profit organization ‘K. Mitsis Foundation' was established, institutionalizing the Group’s philanthropic and community-oriented initiatives.

In 2022, the acquisitions of Mitsis Royal Mare and Mitsis Cretan Village in Crete further consolidated leadership in one of the Mediterranean’s most established destinations. In 2023, the loyalty programme was rebranded as ‘Storytellers by Mitsis’, evolving into a more rewarding and digitally enhanced ecosystem designed to strengthen guest engagement and lifetime value.

Expansion continued through strategic management partnerships, welcoming Mitsis Bali Paradise in Crete and Radisson Blu Zaffron in Santorini in 2023. In 2024, with the acquisition of Mitsis Messonghi in Corfu, we enhanced the Group’s footprint in the Ionian Islands, while Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port introduced an urban lifestyle dimension beyond the traditional resort model. Belvedere in Corfu and Alexander the Great in Chalkidiki followed, completing a period of focused growth. Together, these milestones reflect disciplined expansion, operational strength and a sustained commitment to elevated guest experiences across Greece.

2026 & Beyond - Visionary developments & the future of Experiential Hospitality

Looking toward 2026 and beyond, Mitsis Group is advancing a new phase of long-term investment and landmark development set to shape the future of luxury hospitality in Greece. This chapter is defined by large-scale projects, premium destination concepts and a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation and wellness-driven tourism. A flagship milestone is the Afandou Project in Rhodes, an integrated destination designed to elevate luxury tourism in the region. In Athens, the historic Schliemann–Melas Mansion will be transformed into a signature urban hospitality property, uniting heritage restoration with contemporary design in the heart of the capital. A significant new development in Kardamena in Kos will reinforce the Group’s long-standing strategic presence on the island where its journey began. A major investment in Chersonissos in Crete will further consolidate its leadership in one of Greece’s most dynamic resort destinations. The development of the Messonghi concept will introduce an experiential hospitality model blending lifestyle, gastronomy, cultural programming and community integration. In Ioannina, the Group has secured pre-approval of the building permit for a new five-star, 300-key hotel in the Votanikos area, adjacent to Lake Pamvotida, marking a further expansion of its premium hospitality portfolio in mainland Greece. A new premium development in Mykonos will further strengthen presence in globally recognized island destinations, while the Galini project in Kamena Vourla reflects a strategic focus on health, longevity and holistic hospitality. Through these visionary initiatives, Mitsis Group continues to combine legacy, innovation and sustainable growth, shaping meaningful travel experiences for the next generation. Beyond hospitality, the Group’s broader entrepreneurial footprint includes winemaking with Caviros Winery since since 1965 and the newspaper Vradyini, with a presence of over 100 years — references that underscore the depth and continuity of the Group’s wider business heritage within the 2026 & beyond strategic horizon.
